In-situ (trans)esterification of lipid-dense post-hydrolysis rice bran at ambient pressures with low acid loading

چکیده

Dilute acid hydrolysis was employed to generate lipid-dense post-hydrolyzed rice bran (PHRB) which utilized as feedstock in biodiesel production. Upon drying of the wet PHRB with entrained dilute solution, subsequent carbonization and sulfonation occurred material, incorporating significant amounts sulfur sulfonic acid. The collected dry in-situ (trans)esterification (ISTE) its lipids fatty methyl esters (FAME), whereby available sites reduced catalyst be loaded reaction system. optimum conditions under ambient pressures were determined via Taguchi method highest yield achieved 22.38 ± 0.28 g FAME/100 (82.31% conversion or yield), at 65 °C, SSR 20 mL methanol/g dried PHRB, 12 h time, 5 wt% H2SO4 processed. post-ISTE found still possess catalytic activity could used for esterification oleic methanol appreciable stability. Finally, FAME-rich product also exhibits free-radical scavenging activity, owing presence bioactive components, may provide better oxidative stability further recovered high-value by-products.

High-Throughput Analysis of Total Plasma Fatty Acid Composition with Direct In Situ Transesterification

BACKGROUND Plasma fatty acid (FA) composition reflects dietary intake and endogenous turnover and is associated with health outcomes on a short and long term basis. The total plasma FA pool represents the composition of all FA containing lipid fractions. We developed a simplified and affordable high-throughput method for the analysis of total plasma FA composition, suitable for large studies. ...

Rice bran in swine rations

R i c e bran has received increased attention as a feedstuff for swine and as a source of oil for human consumption. Depending on milling conditions and hull contamination, bran from California rice contains 15 to 20 percent oil, 30 to 40 percent digestible carbohydrate, and 12 to 14 percent protein, although levels of up to 18 percent protein have been reported. Rice bran is also an excellent ...

Squeeze-film damping of flexible microcantilevers at low ambient pressures: theory and experiment

An improved theoretical approach is proposed to predict the dynamic behavior of long, slender and flexible microcantilevers affected by squeeze-film damping at low ambient pressures. Our approach extends recent continuum gas damping models (Veijola 2004 J. Micromech. Microeng. 14 1109–18, Gallis and Torczynski 2004 J. Microelectromech. Syst. 13 653–9), which were originally derived for a rigid ...

Nutritive Value Of Rice Bran

Rice is the major foodgrain of the world and it is the principle cereal consumed in India and other parts of Asia1. Milling of paddy to obtain edible rice grain yields two major byproducts of economic and nutritional importance, namely, paddy husk and rice bran. Paddy husk has no food value but has several industrial uses. Rice bran, on the other hand, can serve as an animal feed, as a human fo...

Effect of low calorie diet with rice bran oil on cardiovascular risk factors in hyperlipidemic patients

BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death and disability in industrialized and developing countries. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of rice bran oil, with a low-calorie diet, on lipid profiles, in hyperlipidemic patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS This study was a parallel groups' randomized clinical trial with a pre- and post-test design. Fifty hy...
